Redstor at ICT SWGfL in Bristol and Torquay

The conferences saw a total of approximately 500 delegates over the 2 days which consisted of school teachers, headteachers, ICT managers and Local Authority representatives.

The main focus of the conferences was the effective use of ICT, both in the classroom and outside of the classroom. It was interesting to see that there was a guest speaker from the grid for learning talking about data security and potential ways in which schools can and should secure their data. We decided to hand out the Redstor Protector datasheets to delegates as they left this seminar and they were quite well received!

Of particular interest on the stand was Redstor Protector with a few schools chomping at the bit to get their hands on the USB cards! With recent BECTA guidelines being released, schools are now having to think about how they secure and protect their data where they previously didn't and this certainly came across at the conferences.

Latest format USB key

Backup Millions of Files

There is a common problem of not being able to backup and protect large numbers of files or directories, huge data quantities or very deep folder structures within a backup window?

Huge amounts of data and many businesses are at risk because protection that is currently available can not cope with these huge data sets correctly?

At Redstor we found a fantastic software and have been using it in house for sometime now to protect our own data. The backup software solution worked so well we decided to bring it to market and it now powers the all new Redstor Online Backup Plus Service.

The software is extremely suitable to large data sets, large files and data sets with millions of directories and files. Redstor Online Backup Plus uses a delta block technology and this approach is fundamentally different to the way in which other backup applications, (file or block level) operate. There are further key differentiators that give huge advantages when backing up millions of files and large data volumes.

If you have these challenges or want to know more, click here to read about the service and download the datasheet or feel free to contact Redstor and we can provide you with further technical details and assist you in any implementation.

Alternatively follow the Redstor blog and we will update you with further Redstor Online Backup Plus information along with other alternative and leading data protection solutions.

We could change the way you backup forever!

Protector- End of June

We are now finalising the design for the USB keys and have been searching high and low for the first iteration of the keys. We are planning on sending out a limited amount of free keys- so if you are interested then please email tony.ruane@redstor.com and he'll put you on the list to receive them. The last steps for us now are to streamline the billing process for the service providers and to ensure that the end user process is as simple as possible.

Redstor Protector progress

We are now just a matter of days away from the official launch of Redstor Protector.

These last few weeks have been pretty manic getting all the finishing touches done for the official product release. Since Redstor unveiled our plans at the Manchester and London education training forums we have been inundated with enquiries for Redstor Protector. Most of the enquiries are from Local Authorities and Service Providers that either attended the events or heard about what we were planning through the grapevine.
Since BECTA sent out their guidance on encryption
we have been receiving many calls from schools directly.

The Redstor Protector service is designed to offer service providers and OEMs a simple, low cost way for their customers to secure the data that resides across all of their personal storage and computing devices. By combining backup, encryption, synchronization and data destruction into an easy to use service, accidental or malicious data loss scenarios can be avoided.

Designed with large scale deployments in mind the Redstor Protector is designed to be sold by service providers.

To help assist our team with communication flow and to ensure that all interested parties are kept uptodate with Redstor Protector release information we invite you to follow and post comments here on our Redstor Protector blog.

Redstor successfully launch Redstor Protector beta program

5th April 2009

Redstor are pleased to announce the release of the beta test programme for the new data protection service.

The Redstor Protector allows consumers to sign up online and create an account. The Redstor Protector creates an encrypted folder on the laptop or desktop as well as on USB storage devices. Should the user have data that is deemed sensitive they can choose to store the data in a secure folder on the desktop. If a secure folder is created on the USB device then it will also synchronise that data with the secure folder on the host system. Redstor's Online Backup service then automatically performs daily remote backups across a secure internet connection and in the event of data loss or corruption will allow the user to recover their data. As a final piece to the service Redstor can embed a data shredding and destruction technology that can be remotely activated by the service provider.

The Redstor Protector is built in such a way that a Service Provider will be able to deliver additional applications to their customers enabling them to offer an 'Apps Store' via a portal.

End user

  • Software as a service delivered over the Internet once the user has signed up
  • 256 bit AES encryption for the USB device and PC
  • Data synchronization between data on the USB device and the PC
  • A 20GB data backup account – storing data securely in two separate datacentres.
  • Remote data shredding for the PC in the event of loss

Service provider

  • Simple signup process
  • Remote support, monitoring and auditing functions built-in for the service provider with the ability to deliver more software applications via the portal
  • Built on solid, proven award winning technology
  • Easily re-branded to create customer loyalty
  • All aspects of the service are designed to keep support calls to a minimum
  • Service is designed to be sold on an annual basis therefore creating recurring revenues for the service provider
  • Ability to create an 'applications store' for delivery of relevant software and utilities to customers via a portal
