Redstor successfully launch Redstor Protector beta program

5th April 2009

Redstor are pleased to announce the release of the beta test programme for the new data protection service.

The Redstor Protector service is designed to offer service providers and OEMs a simple, low cost way for their customers to secure the data that resides across all of their personal storage and computing devices. By combining backup, encryption, synchronization and data destruction into an easy to use service, accidental or malicious data loss scenarios can be avoided.

Designed with large scale deployments in mind the Redstor Protector is designed to be sold by service providers.

The Redstor Protector allows consumers to sign up online and create an account. The Redstor Protector creates an encrypted folder on the laptop or desktop as well as on USB storage devices. Should the user have data that is deemed sensitive they can choose to store the data in a secure folder on the desktop. If a secure folder is created on the USB device then it will also synchronise that data with the secure folder on the host system. Redstor's Online Backup service then automatically performs daily remote backups across a secure internet connection and in the event of data loss or corruption will allow the user to recover their data. As a final piece to the service Redstor can embed a data shredding and destruction technology that can be remotely activated by the service provider.

The Redstor Protector is built in such a way that a Service Provider will be able to deliver additional applications to their customers enabling them to offer an 'Apps Store' via a portal.

End user

  • Software as a service delivered over the Internet once the user has signed up
  • 256 bit AES encryption for the USB device and PC
  • Data synchronization between data on the USB device and the PC
  • A 20GB data backup account – storing data securely in two separate datacentres.
  • Remote data shredding for the PC in the event of loss

Service provider

  • Simple signup process
  • Remote support, monitoring and auditing functions built-in for the service provider with the ability to deliver more software applications via the portal
  • Built on solid, proven award winning technology
  • Easily re-branded to create customer loyalty
  • All aspects of the service are designed to keep support calls to a minimum
  • Service is designed to be sold on an annual basis therefore creating recurring revenues for the service provider
  • Ability to create an 'applications store' for delivery of relevant software and utilities to customers via a portal

The 2009 BETT show in Olympia London was the busiest yet for Redstor with over 50 separate Local Authorities and Service Provider customer and prospect meetings taking place to see the latest in data protection services and solutions to simplify the day to day operations of a service provider.

"Also at the show we provided updates on our successful Redstor Backup for Schools Service (RBUSS) which has been adopted by over 65 Local Authorities and Service Providers in the Education Market. The RBUSS service is now addressing over 10,000 primary schools.
