Transforming schools' IT Service Delivery

Yesterday the Institute of Directors (IoD) on Pall Mall, London played host to the penultimate Local Authority workshop of the week.

The workshop was attended by a number of delegates from Local Authorities discussing topics such as current service delivery model to schools, the costs associated with Desktop and Server Management and ideas for fresh services to offer out.

Whilst the rest of the country watched spending review developments in Westminster with baited breath, Redstor was already working with it's Local Authority partners to transform service delivery to schools.

Local Authority workshops

As part of Redstor's work with Local Authorities up and down the country, we are hosting a series of workshops next week for our LA partners to attend. Here, we will be discussing both current and future challenges the industry and LA's are facing such as headcount reductions, various grants being cut, pressures to reduce internal costs and schools' demand for better services for less money.

A number of our Local Authority partners are already using our technology to offer out shared services and revamp the way in which they deliver services to their schools to make them more relevant and agile in this era of austerity.

The workshops will be attended by Heads of Service/CIO's of various sized Local Authorities who are all drawn together by a desire to improve service levels and network with their fellow peers.

Redstor's New General Manager

I am delighted to announce that Chris Sigley has been appointed as the General Manager of Redstor with full profit and loss responsibilities.

Chris has been successfully heading up the Redstor Education Business Unit which has grown significantly in the last 4 years. This unit now has over 70 Local Authority and Service Partners as customers built initially around Redstor’s Backup Service for Schools (RBUSS) which backs up over 12,000 schools in the UK. Chris was also behind the introduction of Centrastage a device management software which enables Local Authorities to do Asset Management, Power Management, Software Distribution and Remote Support from one web console to their schools.

Chris originally joined the company in September 2004 and has progressed rapidly from being a new business executive, to Education Head to General Manager.

Since Redstor was founded in 1998 by Tony Ruane and myself it has been focused in the area of Data Management and Protection and over the years we have built up a solid and loyal customer base with many recurring relationships and today over 60% of Redstor's income is repeatable which gives us a springboard for continued growth.

Chris's challenge is to continue to renew and grow our customer relationships which we value through excellent customer service and delivering innovative solutions in line with Redstor's heritage.
